One of the most successful Scotland national team managers of all-time, Craig Brown’s near-seventy years in the game have seen him take in the heights of qualification for European Championships and a World Cup, as well as playing his part in Dundee’s remarkable 1962 Division One success.
Hailing from Hamilton, the potential of tough-tackling ‘Young Brown’, as Willie Waddell would later call him, was spotted by Kilmarnock Amateurs in the late 1950s. At that time he trained, albeit briefly, with some of the soon-to-be great names of the club.
Ever a student of the game, his in-depth knowledge of Scottish football leaves Craig Brown very well placed to assess some of the best known Killie players and staff of the past six decades, some of whom he calls close friends.
